Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this kit an OEM Mighty Lift product or aftermarket?
A: The ML-BK100 is an aftermarket replacement kit, not made by Mighty Lift. It’s manufactured to OEM specifications for the ML55 and performs the same as factory seals. Customers report no difference in fit or function. This kit comes with a warranty for added peace of mind.
Q: What material are the seals made of?
A: The seals are made from durable hydraulic-grade materials. O-rings are nitrile rubber (NBR) for oil resistance. Main pressure seals are polyurethane or high-durometer NBR for wear resistance. Copper washers are included for sealing screw plugs. These materials meet or exceed the jack’s temperature and pressure requirements for long service life.
Q: Will replacing the seals fix a pallet jack that won’t lift anymore?
A: Yes—if worn seals are the cause. Installing new seals restores pressure, allowing the jack to lift and hold loads. If the problem is a broken linkage, low oil, or a cracked housing, those must be addressed separately. For jacks with a gradual loss of lift or visible leaks, resealing usually restores full performance.
Q: How often should pallet jack seals be replaced?
A: Pallet jack seals do not have a fixed replacement schedule; instead, they should be replaced as needed, when they show signs of leaks or loss of lifting pressure.
Q: What causes the seals to wear out in the first place?
A: Seals wear from friction during pumping cycles, contamination in the oil, and exposure to extreme temperatures. Dirt or particles in hydraulic fluid can score seals or cylinders. Over time, rubber hardens and loses elasticity, causing cracks and leaks. Overloading the jack also stresses seals.
Q: When would I choose to rethed wit of the sealh a seal kit versus replace the entire pump?
A: Use a seal kit if the pump’s cylinder, piston, and valves are in good condition. It’s cost-effective and fixes most issues, though it requires more labor. If the pump has cracks, bent rods, or severe damage—or you need a quick turnaround—replacing the full hydraulic unit is better. For most leaks or loss of pressure, resealing is the best first option.
OR if the cost of repairs approaches or exceeds 50% of a new pump's price, as this indicates the pump is nearing the end of its lifespan and a new pump offers better value and reliability.
